Forest Modelling Lab.
Longlong Ma
Longlong Ma has a master’s degree in Ecology from Ningxia University, where his research focuses on analyzing and modeling carbon and water dynamics in artificially revegetated shrub ecosystems in response to water stress. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Resources and Environment at Northwest Agricultural and Forest University (NWAFU), focusing on a better understanding of how forest ecosystem is adapting to climatic variability and extreme climatic events. He has employed diverse methods, including field precipitation control experiments, eddy covariance, and satellite remote sensing, to investigate the response mechanisms of forest ecosystems to drought, particularly in planted forests and restored ecosystems.
From December 2024, Longlong Ma is undergoing a three-month joint PhD training at the Institute for Agricultural and Forestry Systems in the Mediterranean (CNR-ISAFOM) under the supervision of Dr. Alessio Collalti. During this period, he will study the response of plantation tree species to drought and their physiological and ecological mechanisms.
