Forest Modelling Lab.

Alessio Collalti

Alessio Collalti is a Senior Research Scientist at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), Institute for Agricultural and Forest Systems in the Mediterranean (CNR-ISAFOM), where he leads the Forest Modelling Lab in Perugia. His research focuses on forest ecosystem modelling, climate change impacts, carbon and water cycling, forest resilience, and the integration of process-based models with Earth observation data.
He is the first developer and scientific coordinator of the 3D-CMCC-FEM forest ecosystem model, widely used to investigate forest functioning under changing environmental conditions. His work combines field observations, eddy covariance measurements, remote sensing, and modelling to improve our understanding of forest responses to climate change and to support sustainable forest management.
Dr. Collalti has authored more than 80 scientific publications and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Current Climate Change Reports. He actively contributes to several national and international research initiatives on climate change, forest ecology, and ecosystem modelling.
